Review: Blame it on press - Yves Mamou

Essay on the fabrication of information

Writing in France in 1991 and with a Brazilian version in 1992, the book "The fault lies with the press" by Yves Mamou has nine shares beginning with the Prologue "The information can be decoded" and the following chapters: Society blocked, in society crisis; Information, letter in the game of the crisis, the crisis is organized resistance; The power of information; The journalism to the risk of crisis; The disinformation, manipulation supreme; The Gulf, a crisis of conscience. Mamou closes with the Conclusion: The journalism in search of a statute.
"It's the press" comes the manipulation of information in the order of the source for the journalist, who subsequently published in the newspapers. Yves Mamou says that the occupation of the press becomes the victim of sources that transmit the information incomplete, false or distorted. The goal is to use the communication or the press, to modify the naturalness of the facts and change the order of events. The problem is located at the source, due to be planted in the news information collected by the journalist. It is up to the same inquiry, investigation and verification of the facts so that the credibility is not lost.
Political and traders to use disinformation as "letter" in the game of power, causing discredit the cost of deception, lies and ulterior motives. Acting in bad faith, believe the information be unfair only in the hands of the press. It is extremely valuable that a manipulation can be used as a weapon in totalitarian regimes to destabilize governments and slander.
The media play a different role in society. The TV creates a social bond with the public because of the variety and fun. Many viewers have the TV as companion and a vehicle of confidence that conveys the impression of being democratic means to achieve different social.
In the design of Mamou, the press is an extension of the information society and badly exploited can cause damage, and the quality of journalism evaluated by hearing from the public receiver.

"The leaked information may change the course of negotiations or agreements, such as the retention of savings at the time of Collor."

Therefore, Mamou reinforces the idea that journalism can be the representation of the fourth power and that information is a tool that adds strength and persuasion, but if used with other intentions can harm.
